Uber Joins Forces with Gemini to Revolutionize Channel Tunnel Rail Travel
EUROPE: Uber, the popular ridesharing platform,is teaming up wiht Gemini Trains to shake up train travel through the Channel Tunnel. This partnership aims to introduce open access passenger services that promise a fresh take on cross-border journeys.
Gemini has plans to acquire ten state-of-the-art trains designed for comfort and efficiency. These trains will operate from London Stratford International—an untapped station for international routes—heading straight to Paris Nord and Brussels Midi. Plus, they’ll make stops at Ebbsfleet International, which has been left out of Eurostar’s current offerings. And guess what? This is just the beginning; Gemini hints at expanding their routes to even more exciting European cities!
The marketing deal announced on May 21 means that uber will co-brand this new service and handle ticket sales via its app while leaving train operations in Gemini’s capable hands. It’s reminiscent of their collaboration with Thames Clippers in London, where Uber brands ferry services operated by another company.
The specifics of how the Gemini service will be branded are still under wraps but are expected soon.
A couple of years back,Uber expanded its UK offerings by allowing users to book inter-city trains, coaches, bike rentals, car hires, and even flights through its app. As then, they’ve seen impressive growth in rail bookings month after month.
“The momentum we’ve gained since diversifying our transport options in the UK has been incredible,” said Andrew Brem, General Manager of Uber UK. “This partnership with Gemini Trains marks another step forward in making travel easier for everyone.”
“Partnering with a globally recognized brand like Uber is thrilling,” shared Adrian Quine,CEO of Gemini Trains. “Now travelers can enjoy top-notch value and comfort aboard our cutting-edge trains—all at their fingertips!”
