Inmarsat Unveils NexusWave Partnership with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines

Inmarsat Maritime, now part of Viasat, has teamed up with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) to enhance its fleet by transitioning from Fleet Xpress (FX) to the innovative nexuswave service. This upgrade will empower MOL to leverage Inmarsat’s thorough bonded connectivity solution, propelling the digital change of this prominent japanese shipping firm. The local partner, JSAT MOBILE communications, will oversee the implementation and support for this upgrade across a diverse fleet that includes LNG carriers, oil tankers, and car carriers.
MOL is adapting to changing demands for operational efficiency and crew connectivity by seeking advanced satellite communication services that turn their vessels into mobile offices and agreeable living spaces. With NexusWaveS ability to merge various network layers into a single bonded connection, it offers high speeds, dependable service, unlimited data access worldwide—all while ensuring top-notch cybersecurity measures are in place along with 24/7 technical support and clear pricing structures.

NexusWave has demonstrated impressive real-world performance during tests—achieving download speeds around 330–340 Mbps and upload speeds between 70–80 Mbps—with network availability consistently above 99.9%.Looking ahead, Inmarsat plans further enhancements through integration with the next-gen ultra-high capacity ViaSat-3 Ka-band network which promises even faster aggregated connectivity speeds.
