This initiative is a significant leap in Swissport’s journey toward innovation, featuring a digital simulation platform and a live test of an electric vehicle aimed at enhancing airside logistics efficiency.

The world’s top provider of airport ground services, Swissport, has announced an exciting collaboration with Aurrigo international plc for its first-ever global pilot focused on autonomous solutions for ground handling. Kicking off at Zurich Airport, this partnership positions Swissport as a trailblazer in smart Ground Support Equipment (iGSE) and showcases its commitment to embracing technology in operations.

The project starts with the introduction of Auto-Sim®, a digital simulation platform that allows Swissport to visualize ground operations virtually. This tool helps identify areas ripe for automation while aiding in strategic planning based on real-time data.
The next step involves testing Aurrigo’s Auto-DollyTug®, an electric vehicle equipped with 360° obstacle detection and automated loading/unloading features for Unit Load devices (ULDs). This system aims to streamline ramp operations and fit smoothly into existing fleet management strategies.
