Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems and Saab Australia to collaborate on frigate platform

Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Saab Australia to explore potential collaboration on the MEKO A-200 frigate platform.

According to the companies, the MOU builds on an existing relationship and supports a shared focus on strengthening sovereign industrial capability in naval defence. Saab’s Australian combat management system (AusCMS), which is currently deployed across the Royal Australian Navy’s surface fleet, is expected to form a key component of the collaboration. Saab stated that the system provides operational, training, and sustainment benefits while contributing to local defence capability.
