Global GSA Group Teams Up with Qantas to Enhance European-Australian Cargo Connectivity

A recent publication by Global GSA Group and Qantas reveals an exciting new cargo collaboration across Europe, utilizing Qantas’ direct routes from Rome and Paris alongside Global GSA Group’s vast interline network.

Qantas is ramping up its operations with seasonal flights from Rome’s Fiumicino airport, offering three weekly Boeing 787-9 services that provide ample cargo space during the bustling european summer. Additionally, the airline maintains year-round service from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport with three weekly flights on the same aircraft type, capable of transporting approximately 45 tonnes of cargo each week.

Travelers can now book direct flights from these two european cities, with seasonal services connecting Rome to Perth and Sydney set to launch on June 15, 2025.

This week marked a significant milestone as Aytekin Saray, CEO of Global GSA Group, and Mallory Logan, Head of Global Sales for Qantas Freight signed a three-year agreement designating Global GSA Group as Qantas Freight’s general Sales Agent (GSA) in Europe.

The partnership positions Global GSA Group—renowned for its extensive commercial reach across 25 European nations—to play a crucial role in advancing Qantas’ cargo ambitions throughout mainland Europe over the next few years. This blend of direct flight options and interline connections will enhance access for European freight forwarders seeking reliable transport solutions to Australia and beyond.

“As the sole Australian airline providing direct links between two major European hubs to Australia—and further into oceania—Qantas opens up a wealth of opportunities for freight forwarders looking to connect domestically or internationally within this region,” stated Aytekin Saray.

“we are eager to support qantas in broadening its cargo capabilities out of europe by leveraging our strong foothold here,” he added. “This will enable us to create an expansive long-term network while enhancing online operations.”

citing Igor Kwiatkowski, Executive Manager at Qantas Freight: “We’re excited about teaming up with an established player like Global GSA Group as we re-establish our presence in Europe.”

Kwiatkowski emphasized that this strategic alliance would allow them to optimize their air freight offerings in the region. “It simplifies access for freight forwarders looking to utilize our capacity between Europe and Australia amid rising global e-commerce demands.”

The flight schedule includes Flight QF34 departing Paris – Charles de Gaulle every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 10:25 AM; it arrives in Perth at 08:45 AM local time the following day before continuing on to Sydney at 10:30 AM. From Perth onward connections are available not just to Melbourne (MEL) but also Brisbane (BNE), while Sydney connects seamlessly with key destinations such as Auckland (AKL) or Nouméa (NOU) in New Caledonia.

The new Rome route will see three weekly flights commencing June 15 through October 3rd; Flight number QF6 departs Italy every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday heading towards Perth en route to Sydney.
