Messe Berlin Unveils InnoTrans Asia: A New Era for Transportation Innovation
According to Messe Berlin, the renowned trade fair organizer, InnoTrans has been a staple in Berlin since its inception in 1996.
now, they’re expanding their horizons with the introduction of InnoTrans Asia, set to debut in Singapore from September 7-9, 2027. This new event will be hosted at the Singapore Expo, a major venue for large-scale events in Southeast Asia. The announcement was made official on June 30 after Messe Berlin signed an agreement with the Singapore Tourism Board.
This Asian edition will complement the biennial InnoTrans event held in Berlin and is designed to cater specifically to the Asia-Pacific region. It will encompass various sectors including Railway Technology, Infrastructure Development, Public Transport Solutions, Interior Design for transport systems, and Tunnel Engineering.
“InnoTrans Asia is a significant addition that enhances our global portfolio,” remarked Dirk Hoffmann, COO of Messe Berlin. “While our flagship event remains pivotal for industry leaders worldwide, we aim to position InnoTrans Asia as a bridge connecting emerging markets with cutting-edge innovations. our choice of Singapore reflects its strategic investments in rail infrastructure.”
Kai mangelberger, Senior vice-President of Mobility at Messe Berlin added that “Asia is making ample investments into its rail systems for both passenger and freight services.” He noted that there’s an increasing demand for advanced rail technologies and sustainable practices across countries like China and India as well as throughout Southeast Asia. “With innotrans Asia,” he said enthusiastically, “we’re establishing a key platform right here in Singapore tailored for this dynamic market.”
The launch included an engaging live stream where TC Chew from Arup lead discussions featuring experts from urban mobility sectors across Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. Chew emphasized that “Asian nations are not merely following global trends; they are setting them and redefining what transportation can look like.”
Messe Berlin’s local branch managing this initiative is Messe Berlin Singapore Ltd., which also oversees other significant events such as ITB Asia and Asia Fruit Logistica.
