Regional Connectivity: Chongqing, Nanchang, Guangzhou, and Tianshui Enhance Their Infrastructure
According to recent updates, Nanchang Rail Transit has significantly expanded its metro system by adding 31.6 kilometers and 19 new stations.
This June marked an exciting time for metro systems in China, wiht cities like Chongqing, Nanchang, Guangzhou, and Tianshui unveiling over 100 kilometers of new routes.
On June 27, Chongqing celebrated the launch of a new branch on Line 6 that stretches for 6.9 kilometers. This line connects Liujiaping to the newly established Chongqing Dong station while making stops at two additional locations along the way. Coinciding with this opening was the debut of a section of the high-speed rail line from Chongqing dong to Changsha. Future plans include extending local Line 24 and express Line 27 services to this station as well.
The following day saw Nanchang Rail Transit enhance its network further by introducing a considerable extension comprising both Line 1 and Line 2. The latter now runs an additional southeast stretch of about 10.5 kilometers from Xinjia’an to Nanchang Dong Railway Station—this is notably significant as it connects directly to the city’s second high-speed railway station that opened in December last year. Meanwhile, Line 1 has been extended northward by nearly17 kilometers towards Changbei Airport and also added a shorter eastern segment reaching Maqiu from Yaohu Lake Xi. With these changes,Line1 now spans almost50 kilometers with an end-to-end travel time of around85 minutes; conversely,Line2 measures45.1kilometers in total length since its inception in2015 when it began operations across four lines totaling160 route-kilometers.
A day later on June28th ,Guangzhou joined in on the expansion frenzy by launching two fresh lines—Line10andLine12—bringing their overall network count up to19lines covering751 .1kilometers .The initial segment ofLine10measures17 .2kilometers ,connectingXilangtoYangjiEast .There’s also ongoing construction for a2 .1 kilometer link eastward towardShipaiqiaoonLine3that will eventually connect withLine10upon completion. The outer sections ofLine12were inaugurated too; though they currently operate separately until their central9.7 kilometer stretch is finalized.Line12West linksXunfenggangtoGuangzhouGymnasiumwhileLine12East travels betweenErshaIslandandHigherEducationMegaCentreSouth ,with each section featuring nine stations. p >Additionally ,the second phaseofGuangzhou’sHuangputramnetwork was launchedonJune20th ;this4 .9 kilometer route extends eastwardfrom themetroStationatXiangxuetoKaiyuanDongLuand includes six stops alongtheway.Afurthermore,a part-elevated9 .5 kilometer track heading southtowardNangangstationonmetro13is currently under development featuring11stops plannedforit.InTianshui,Gansu province, two tram extensions were unveiled onJune18th ;originally openedin2020,the first linehas beenextendedwestby11 .9kilometersfromWuliputoJingkunxijunTianshuiNo3MiddleSchool.Additionally,a5 .3 kilometer branch running southeastfromYangpoDongtoTianshuiAirporthasalso commenced operations. These expansions have ledto operational adjustments wherebythe originallinebetweenYangpoDongandTianshuistationisnowdesignatedasline2whiletheremaining30.km systembecomesline1. div >
