Construction begins on new cruise terminal in Klaipeda

Construction has begun on a new cruise ship terminal in Klaipėda, Lithuania, with contractor Tilsta now starting quay construction works, the port authority announced on June 30.

The first shipment of metal piles for the terminal’s quays, weighing a total of 1.9 thousand tonnes, recently arrived from Antwerp, Belgium, on the vessel Benabell G. This represents about 40 per cent of the piles needed for the quay construction. Prior to this, dredging was carried out at the site.
