Synergistic Innovations Drive the InnoTrans Asia Debut

Mark your calendars: Messe Berlin is gearing up for the next InnoTrans event, set to take place in September 2026.

According to a recent publication by Railway Gazette International, Dirk Hoffmann, the Chief Operating Officer at Messe Berlin, shared insights on why they are launching an Asian version of their flagship InnoTrans exhibition. He believes that both events will mutually enhance each other’s value.

In an interview with Eurailpress shortly after announcing InnoTrans Asia on June 30, Hoffmann elaborated that this new edition will create vital connections and provide essential market insights. “The Asia edition brings Berlin closer to the Asian market,” he noted. This initiative not only strengthens the brand but also broadens its network and ultimately benefits all stakeholders involved.

The inaugural InnoTrans Asia is scheduled for September 7-9, 2027, at Singapore Expo—one of Southeast Asia’s premier event venues. Hoffmann emphasized that this show targets the burgeoning markets within the Asia-Pacific region and serves as a complement to its counterpart in Berlin.

“Our goal is to position InnoTrans Asia as a bridge connecting emerging markets with global innovations,” he explained. With significant investments pouring into modern rail infrastructure across countries like China and India, Singapore will serve as a central hub for regional exchange while fostering connections with international players.

A Unique Outdoor Experience in Berlin

Citing reasons behind choosing Singapore as the venue, Hoffmann mentioned its strategic location within the Asia-Pacific area along with its reputation for safety and business-friendliness. The proximity of Singapore Expo to major transport links ensures attendees have access to top-notch facilities. “We aim to unite various rail markets without favoring any single country,” he added; thus making Singapore an ideal choice for this initiative.

The layout of InnoTrans Asia will mirror some thematic elements from its parent event in Berlin—featuring zones dedicated to Railway Technology, Infrastructure, Public Transport Solutions, Interiors Design, and Tunnel Construction among others. However, when asked about replicating Berlin’s iconic outdoor display area featuring tracks and exhibits outdoors at this new venue, Hoffmann was cautious: “Berlin’s outdoor space remains our unique selling point,” he stated while assuring attendees that there would be tailored programs addressing specific needs of asian markets during this inaugural event.

Cautiously optimistic about attracting visitors from Europe and beyond despite being a new venture; during last year’s InnoTrans held in September where around ten percent of participants hailed from Asia—Hoffmann sees potential for reciprocal engagement between these diverse markets through this upcoming platform.

Messe Berlin has successfully expanded events globally before; drawing parallels with their travel trade show ITB which has localized editions catering specifically towards audiences in China or India among others including future plans targeting Mexico next year!As we look forward towards launching our first-ever edition here come ’27—it’s tough predicting attendance numbers just yet,” saeid hoffman adding “but we anticipate it coudl reach around ten percent or fifteen percent scale compared against what happens back home.” Given how massive Innotrans typically gets—with over two hundred thousand square meters gross area—that would still be quite impressive!
