Avia Solutions Group Teams Up with DHL Express to Propel Sustainable Aviation Fuel Adoption
According to a recent proclamation from Avia Solutions Group, the company has teamed up with DHL Express to tackle greenhouse gas emissions linked to their global shipping operations. This collaboration utilizes DHL’s GoGreen Plus initiative, which focuses on integrating Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) into their logistics processes.
Thanks to the GoGreen Plus Basic Model, Avia Solutions Group has successfully cut down GHG emissions by 12.61% related to shipments handled by DHL, equating to a reduction of 30.6 tonnes between January and April 2025.
This partnership reflects a strong commitment across various subsidiaries of Avia Solutions Group towards more eco-amiable practices in aviation.
“As an influential player in global aviation spanning six continents, we understand our duty to foster sustainable industry standards,” stated Jonas Janukenas, CEO of Avia Solutions Group. “By adopting SAF for our extensive logistics requirements, we aim not only to validate this method but also inspire other companies in the sector to take significant actions that lessen their environmental footprint.”
“We are excited to back Avia Solutions Group as they strive for lower GHG emissions throughout their vast network,” commented Mindaugas Pivoriunas, Managing Director at DHL Express Lithuania.”achieving net-zero in aviation demands teamwork; the widespread use of GoGreen Plus illustrates that leading firms are ready and willing to adopt greener practices.”
DHL’s GoGreen Plus service allows clients to mitigate GHG emissions from shipments through SAF derived from sustainable sources like used cooking oil or waste materials. On average, SAF can slash emissions by about 80% compared with traditional jet fuel over its lifecycle. The program not only helps reduce carbon footprints within logistics but also supports customers’ voluntary emission reporting via a “book and claim” system—part of DHL’s broader goal for net-zero GHG emissions by 2050.
The success of GoGreen Plus is bolstered by strategic alliances with top SAF producers such as bp and Neste, ensuring over 800 million liters of SAF will be available within the DHL Express network. These partnerships are projected to prevent around two million tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere throughout the fuel’s lifecycle.
