Pilbara Ports Authority reports throughput decline in February

Pilbara Ports recorded a total monthly throughput of 49.5 million tonnes (Mt) in February 2025, reflecting a 6% decline compared to the same month in 2024.
The Port of Port Hedland reported a monthly throughput of 37.5 Mt, with iron ore exports accounting for 37.3 Mt. This represented a 5% decrease in total throughput compared to February 2024. Imports through the port reached 183,000 tonnes, marking a 16% increase from the previous year.
The Port of Dampier handled a total throughput of 10 Mt, an 18% decline from February 2024. Imports at the port amounted to 93,000 tonnes, down 26% year-on-year.
Throughput fluctuations are influenced by various factors, including market conditions, port maintenance, customer demand, and weather conditions, according to Pilbara Ports Authority.
