IMO’s carbon charging will raise the cost of shipping

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) will debate what could prove to be pivotal advances in its decarbonisation strategy, which could see the price of fuels rise substantially as industry cries out for a carbon pricing mechanism to fuel the green transition.
This week’s 83rd Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) will focus on carbon charging and whether the charge should be focused on well-to-wake emissions or the less onerous tank-to-wake charges.
