Lufthansa Cargo pioneers virtual reality training for aircraft loading supervisors

Lufthansa Cargo has announced the development of an innovative virtual reality training program for aircraft loading supervisors, setting a new benchmark in digital training solutions within the air freight industry.
This groundbreaking initiative is designed to equip ground personnel with realistic, immersive training experiences allowing them to master aircraft handling procedures, safety protocols, and communication workflows in a controlled, virtual environment.
Momo Ruzic, Station Manager Frankfurt at Lufthansa Cargo, said that the use of this technology allows to train the Aircraft Loading Supervisors in a highly practical way while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
The immersive quality of VR significantly enhances learning retention and enables faster, more focused comprehension of complex procedures. Trainees benefit from repeated hands-on practice without operational risks, ensuring a deeper, longer-lasting understanding of real-world tasks.
The first training module is expected to launch in October 2025, placing Lufthansa Cargo among the first air freight companies to integrate VR into workforce training.
In addition to improving effectiveness and flexibility, the new method presents a more sustainable and cost-efficient alternative to traditional training by minimizing the need for physical materials and travel.
This move further solidifies Lufthansa Cargo’s role as a pioneer in digital transformation, advancing both operational excellence and environmental responsibility in air logistics.
