International Cargo Handling Association (ICHCA) announced new Chair

The International Cargo Handling Association (ICHCA) has announced the election of Scott McKay as its new Chair, effective 30 September 2025.

ICHCA represents members from ports, terminals, shipping, and cargo handling sectors worldwide. The association remains dedicated to improving safety standards for all those working across the global maritime supply chain.

McKay brings nearly 40 years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, and infrastructure operations. Also, his appointment reinforces ICHCA’s mission to advance safety and knowledge sharing throughout the cargo handling industry.

“ICHCA has a fantastic opportunity to expand its work in gathering, analysing, and sharing safety data and best practices,” said Scott McKay. “Our goal is to help improve safety decisions and drive cultural change across the supply chain.”

McKay joined ICHCA Australia seven years ago, later becoming Chair of the state chapter and a member of the international board in 2023. In addition, his career spans senior leadership roles across Europe, Asia, and Australia. Moreover, includes CEO positions in warehousing, container rail, intermodal, and bulk port operations.

Currently, McKay is Founder and CEO of Flywheel Advisory, helping businesses use supply chain excellence to enhance profitability and service. He also serves as CEO of T Ports, an Australian bulk grain handler operating innovative port and transshipment solutions for global grain traders.

McKay succeeds John Beckett, who steps down after 18 years of service, including eight as Chair.

“Scott is a highly appropriate professional to take on the role of ICHCA Chair,” said John Beckett. “He inherits a growing and diverse membership united by a shared commitment to safety improvement across the industry. I wish him and the ICHCA community every success in the future.”
