HMM partners with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and Avikus on AI navigation

HMM has partnered with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and Avikus to advance AI-based autonomous navigation technologies.

The company signed contracts with Avikus to introduce autonomous navigation solutions across its fleet. In parallel, the three companies entered into a memorandum of understanding covering joint research and technical cooperation.

HMM will first deploy the technology on 40 vessels. The rollout will use real operational data to refine system performance and improve overall fleet competitiveness. Based on the results, HMM plans to expand the application across its entire fleet.

Under the MOU, the partners will collaborate to further develop AI-driven navigation technologies. HMM will manage deployment and provide operational data. HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering will supply vessel platforms and technical support. Avikus will deliver and continue to enhance the autonomous navigation solutions.

The initiative reflects HMM’s focus on digitalisation and smart shipping as it works to strengthen efficiency and safety across its operations.
