Hapag-Lloyd reroutes IMX service via Cape of Good Hope
Hapag-Lloyd has suspended Trans-Suez sailings on its IMX service and will reroute vessels around the Cape of Good Hope.

Hapag-Lloyd has suspended Trans-Suez sailings on its IMX service and will reroute vessels around the Cape of Good Hope due to the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East and escalating military tensions affecting the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The decision, taken in coordination with the company’s security partners, pauses future Trans-Suez transits for the time being. Until further notice, all IMX sailings will operate via the longer Cape of Good Hope route.

Hapag-Lloyd said the safety of its crews, vessels and customers’ cargo remains its top priority. The carrier added that it is closely monitoring developments and will take further action as required.

The company stated it is working to minimize disruption to customer supply chains and will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves. It also indicated that once security conditions allow, the IMX service will return to the Trans-Suez routing, which it considers the fastest, most sustainable and most efficient option for serving customers.
