Adrienne Camire’s name has vanished from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration website just two weeks after she was named acting administrator.

Camire was appointed on March 7 to lead the FMCSA. By March 21, the agency had removed all references to her leadership, including a press release announcing her appointment and her name on the agency’s leadership page.

The reason for the sudden departure has not been publicly announced. FMCSA has not issued a statement, and the Department of Transportation has not commented on the change.

Sue Lawless now appears at the top of the agency’s leadership page as executive director and chief safety officer, with Jesse Elison listed as chief counsel.

Camire had not initially been appointed to lead the FMCSA. In January, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy named her senior advisor to the agency’s administrator. It remains unclear whether she will return to that role.

Before joining FMCSA, Camire served as chief counsel to the Federal Highway Administration during the Trump administration. She has more than 20 years of experience in regulatory work, including roles as an attorney and adjunct professor.

The agency’s leadership has seen frequent turnover in recent years. Prior to Camire’s departure, the record for shortest term belonged to Wiley Deck, who led the FMCSA for five months at the end of Trump’s first term.
