KiwiRail Launches Initial Stage of Digital Transformation Initiative
NEW ZEALAND: On May 3, the Wairarapa Line from Wellington saw the launch of an Alstom Iconis Traffic Management System, marking a notable milestone in KiwiRail’s enterprising digital transformation initiative. This project aims to centralize control of the entire rail network from two hubs located in Wellington and Auckland.
This new TMS will provide KiwiRail wiht immediate access to operational data, enhancing network capacity and resilience while improving communication with passengers. The goal is to ensure that travelers receive timely updates and information.
Kiwirail entrusted Alstom with this groundbreaking contract in 2022, which involves implementing a comprehensive traffic management system across New Zealand’s national railways.Alongside deployment, Alstom will offer ongoing support, training, and maintenance throughout each stage of this rollout.
