BIFA Restructures Its Policy and Compliance Division for Enhanced Effectiveness
The British International Freight Association (BIFA) is shaking things up in its policy and compliance team, promoting Pawel jarza to the role of director for policy, compliance, and external affairs.
Many BIFA members recognize Jarza from his previous roles in Customs as the frontier policy manager and more recently as an adviser focused on air compliance.
A Wroclaw University alum with a master’s degree in International Trade Relations, Jarza brings over two decades of logistics experience to the table. His expertise primarily lies in Customs compliance management, and he has been part of BIFA for six years across two stints.
In this new position, he will take charge of much of BIFA’s lobbying efforts with government entities and other vital stakeholders.
Meanwhile, robert Windsor will step into a senior policy adviser role after many years on BIFA’s management team. He’ll be focusing on surface transport policies along with legal and insurance matters.
Parker notes that Windsor is currently leading a review team for BIFA’s Standard Trading Conditions (STC), wich are updated regularly to adapt to industry shifts and legislative changes. This process is crucial now more than ever due to challenges arising from Brexit and escalating global trade tensions that pose risks for members.
BIFA’s director general Steve Parker commented: “This shift allows Robert to concentrate fully on ensuring our STC remains vital for our relationships with members and their clients.”
Pawel will collaborate closely with SEC Newgate, our newly appointed public affairs advisor. Together they aim to enhance dialog channels with various external parties as part of our mission to expand representation not just for our members but also within the broader UK freight sector.”
