UK authorities seize cocaine totalling $130m on ship at London Gateway Port

The container housing the drugs had been placed beside several boxes, prompting authorities to move these out of the way with the help of port employees to access the contraband.

Officials have estimated that the seized drugs have a street value of around £96 million (US$130 million) and were merely part of a broader smuggling operation involving a number of cartels based in South America.

The UK Home Office said the recent seizure is the sixth-largest to be made by the agency since it started keeping records.
