Fincantieri just celebrated a significant milestone with the keel laying of the “Seven Seas Prestige,” an ultra-luxury cruise ship being crafted for Regent Seven Seas Cruises at their Marghera shipyard in Venice. This beauty is set to make waves in 2026.
The event drew notable figures, including Harry Sommer, CEO of Norwegian Cruise line Holdings Ltd, and Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer at regent Seven Seas Cruises. Other key attendees were Patrik Dahlgren, Executive VP of Vessel Operations and Newbuilds at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, along with Daniele Fanara, Senior VP of New Building and After Sales at Fincantieri, and Marco Lunardi, Senior VP of the Marghera yard.
A charming maritime tradition was honored during the ceremony as three specially selected coins were welded onto the ship’s hull—an age-old practice believed to bring good fortune to seafaring vessels.
The “Seven Seas Prestige” will boast a gross tonnage of 77,000 tons and stretch 257 meters long. It’s designed to host around 850 guests across 434 luxurious suites, ensuring one of the best guest-to-space ratios in cruising today. This vessel promises sophistication that defines timeless elegance while incorporating cutting-edge environmental technologies alongside new dining options and unique experiences tailored for luxury travelers.
This ship marks the debut of a new class called Prestige Class, following in the footsteps of Fincantieri’s triumphant Explorer series which includes ships like “Seven Seas Explorer” (2016), “Seven Seas Splendor” (2020), and “Seven Seas Grandeur” (2023)—all delivered from their sestri Ponente (Genoa) or Ancona facilities.
