To enhance efficiency and transparency in vessel registration, Transport Malta is rolling out a new digital system. Starting June 1, 2025, yacht and ship owners will receive electronic certificates for their Maltese-flagged vessels. Chris Bonett, the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, emphasized that this move will boost malta’s competitiveness in a maritime sector that increasingly values speed and clarity.Kurt Farrugia, CEO of Transport Malta, noted that this initiative builds on previous advancements like e-certificates for seafarers introduced back in 2021—over 93,000 of these digital documents have already been issued!
