ORCA ACE: MOL's Car Carrier Honored with 2024 Excellence in Quality Award

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), led by President & CEO Takeshi Hashimoto, has proudly received the Best Quality Ship Award for fiscal year 2024 from the Japan Federation of pilots’ Associations (JFPA) for it’s car carrier, ORCA ACE.

This award, established in 2003, aims to promote environmental stewardship in maritime operations by recognizing vessels that excel in safety and operational excellence as judged by pilots. The JFPA selects outstanding ships based on their commitment to safe navigation and environmental protection.

For this year’s awards, nine vessels were chosen from a pool of applicants seeking pilot services across various Japanese ports. MOL has a strong track record with multiple vessels previously honored with this accolade.

The evaluation process for FY2024 was thorough; it focused on how well ships maintained their nautical and boarding equipment while also assessing safety protocols and teamwork among crew members—including captains—who work alongside pilots during navigation.

The careful assessment process ultimately determined which ships woudl be recognized this year.
