Raytheon awarded $536m contract for radar system support
The sole-source contract covers continued integration, testing, training, engineering support, software enhancements, and shipboard installation of the radar systems. Work is scheduled to be completed by May 2026.
The SPY-6 radar family is currently installed on two US Navy vessels, with three additional ships undergoing installation and testing in 2025. Raytheon said the radar system is designed to provide improved situational awareness and defence against air, surface, and ballistic missile threats.
According to the navy’s long-term plans, SPY-6 is expected to be installed on more than 60 ships over the next decade as part of ongoing fleet modernisation efforts.
