China's Yantai Salvage Bureau orders new heavy lift vessel

Although intended primarily for marine salvage and search and rescue, the heavy lift vessel will also be used for transport and installation of offshore structure components as well as marine construction works.

The completed vessel will have a steel hull, an electric propulsion system, and a main deck crane with maximum lifting capacities of 5,000 tons when secured in place and 3,500 tons when fully rotating. A DP2 system and an eight-point mooring system will ensure safe operation under a range of sea conditions.

The heavy lift vessel will be built in compliance with unlimited navigation requirements.
