Dresden Transit Agency Monetizes Public Announcements

According to a recent report from DVB, the public transport authority in Dresden, Germany, they are set to introduce advertising through onboard announcements and facts displays.
The inaugural advertiser is Boulevardtheater Dresden, which will be promoted at a tram stop close to the Freiberger Straße S-Bahn station.
The names of the stops will remain unchanged; only the announcements will feature ads. Sachsen Media is handling sales for DVB,with annual bids starting in the five-digit euro range. Each stop will host just one advertiser at a time. In cases where multiple companies express interest—especially for prime city center locations—the highest bidder will secure the spot. Advertisers must have a local presence; political messages are off-limits, and all content must adhere to community standards of tastefulness.
DVB reports that over 600,000 passengers utilize their services daily, with announcements being made at least twelve times each hour. This initiative aims to create extra revenue streams that can help offset costs associated with student tickets and the Deutschlandticket while also addressing rising operational expenses.
